Our Favorite Ways to Display Air-Plants

The happiest place on earth: the Retro Den plant bar!
One of the best things about air-plants is their display versatility! That's right, we said their display versatility. As in, because these plants survive on air, water, and sunlight only and do not require soil, you don't have to put them in a pot! Whaaaat? It's mind-blowing, for sure.
Not requiring soil and a pot make air-plants way cool because you can get creative with how you display them in your home. Rocks, jars, driftwood! The possibilities are endless!
Note that air-plants need watering twice a week, so do be mindful when selecting how to display your air-plant (see our air-plant care guide here). Other than that, the sky's the limit! Reach for those stars, y'all!
Below are some of our favorite ways to display these fun plants!
It's so satisfying to poke air-plants into the nooks and crannies of cool rocks. Everyone should try it.
You can't go wrong with a glass bottle.
They even look cute in blue bottles.
Drill out a hole in wooden children's blocks to make air-plant holders. These are great gifts and look awesome in kid rooms.
Just nestle one on a shelf! Air-plants love sitting on shelves. #easypeasy

Thread fishing line through a sea urchin and tie to the bottom of an air-plant. Instant floating jelly fish! Air-plants love looking like jelly fish.
Drill a small hole in a wooden block. Insert thick, bendable wire. You can also skip the glass beaker and just have the wire hold the air-plant. Try different wire colors and lengths!
Air-plants love sitting in vintage brass anchors.
Put some rocks in a container and plop an air-plant on top.
Find plastic animals and dinosaurs (not hard plastic, the softer plastic), spray paint them gold and cut holes in their backs for air-plants! Garage sales and flea markets are great sources to find these critters. Or you can skip all the work and buy them at Retro Den!
Truly a symbiotic relationship.
Driftwood is one of our favorite ways to display air-plants. Just sit them on top or cozy them up in the bends and crevices of the wood. Such a natural, beautiful display for your table or shelf.

Air-plants also really love sitting on real cholla wood and holding friendly, water-colored flags by Laurel & Marie.
